If you want to retain the natural appearance of unfinished light woods, then Osmo 3051 is what you're looking for. Osmo 3051 has a small amount of white pigment added to offset the ambering on light colored woods such as ash and maple. It will yield a raw wood look with the protection you need. Apply the 2 coats of 3051 or apply the 1st coat with 3051 then a 2nd coat of 3031 or 3043 Polyx Oil Original. 

This will become your go to hardwax oil finish for furniture and woodworking projects - it's easy to apply, durable, easily maintained and repaired, food safe and suitable for children's toys.
